Stagecoach Outsider
Description
There’s this funny thing about the internet that creates expectations of people/places/things that may or may not line up with reality. Every year, Coachella and Stagecoach happen and thousands of photos and videos are posted online, creating an experience for the person who was not there. I went to Stagecoach and filmed as an outsider, taking in some of the real reality and realizing it didn’t match what I was expecting. I was amazed with:
• How large the grounds were. The polo grounds are massive.
• The sheer amount of selfies taken. This was unfortunately not surprising.
• The majority of people looked the same. 80% of the girls were wearing the same thing.
• How much straight up lounging went on. Beach chairs on camping chairs on blankets, all day long, all weekend. Thousands.
• A lot of people were hyped. A lot were not. They were just… there.
• I was really impressed with the production. The video screens, lighting, and sound amplification were all on point. Good job, Goldenvoice.
Overall, very impressed. Didn’t match up to the “popular” page of Instagram, which was for the better. The moral of story? Social media doesn’t have nothing on the real life experience of anything. You need to see it for yourself.
